Richmond native Herschel F. "Red" Eastman, 83, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at the Muncie Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Richmond and moved to Muncie in 1928. He graduated from Muncie Central High School and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in industrial education from Ball State University. He started teaching in the Muncie Community Schools in 1943 and retired in 1977 as principal of the Muncie Area Career Center and vocational education director for Delaware, Jay, Randolph and Blackford counties.

He also served as a registered lobbyist for vocational education in the Indiana State Legislature. As a coach, he officiated at both high school and collegiate basketball and football games. In 1946, he refereed the first televised basketball tournament game in Indiana. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Adaline Jones Eastman; a son, Michael H. Eastman of Mansfield, Texas; a stepson, William R.

Jones of Florissant, nine grandchildren; five great and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine H. Eastman, in 1974; his sister, Lucile Elleman; and two brothers, Everett E. and Roland H. Eastman.

Service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Muncie. Private burial will be at Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Meeks Mortuary, Muncie, and 2-3 p.m.

Saturday at the church. Elks Lodge 245 will conduct a memorial service at 7 tonight at the mortuary. Eastman Amanda Strickler, 83, formerly of West Manchester and New Madison, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at Gade Nursing Home in Greenville. She was born May 30, 1914, in Darke County to Phares and Emma Wertenbaker Longanecker and was a member of the Ithaca Open Bible Church. Survivors include four daughters, Phyllis Strickler of Greenville, Joyce Maglott of Jeannette, Janet Strickler of Eldorado and Patsy Whye of McKeesport, one son, Charles Strickler of Castine; a half brother, Benjamin Gallihugh; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn E. Lipps; and a brother, William Longanecker.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. (Ohio time) today at Castine (Ohio) Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Means officiating. Barnes Funeral Home, Eaton, is in charge of arrangements. Lucille V.

Geeting EATON, Ohio Lucille Viola Geeting, 86, formerly of 129 W. Chicago died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Heartland of Eaton. She was born Oct. 20, 1911, in Preble County to Earl and Emma M. Kreitzer Lesh and had lived in the county all her life.

She had been a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1936 and Eaton Grange for more than years. Survivors include a daughter, Janet L. Paxson of Eaton; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Orville Lesh of Englewood; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Albert Geeting, on Feb.

10, 1984; a brother, Harvey Lesh; and a sister, Ethel Lesh. Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Jeff Hill officiating. Burial will be at Preble Memory Gardens in West Alexandria.

Jack Keith Duane Jack, 57, 22 N. 21st died today, April 17, 1998, at Reid Hospital after a long illness. He was born May 27, 1940, in Richmond to Leo and Myrtle Kendrick Jack and was a lifelong Richmond resident. He attended Richmond schools and was a member of First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was a former employee of the White Kitchen.

Survivors include his wife, Ida Corman Jack, whom he married May 20, 1971; three sons, Tim Jack of Miami, and Bill and Earl Jack, both of Richmond; several grandchildren and great four stepdaughters, Kathy Weinert and Debbie Henderson, both of Richmond, Deana Sluscher of Fort Recovery, Ohio, and Brenda Erk of Bloomfield; one stepson, Rick Erk of West Elkton, Ohio; two brothers, Richard and Fred Jack, both of Richmond; three sisters, Juanita Horner of Richmond, Ruth Ellen Murray of New Paris, Ohio, and Rita Shane of Jacksonville, nieces and nephews. Service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Doan Mills Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel R. Brockman of Oak Park Church of God officiating.

McFarland Former Richmond resident Donald Edward "Preach" McFarland, 59, of Brownsburg, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born July 27, 1938, in Indianapolis to the Rev. Edward and Virginia Frances Pace McFarland.

He retired in 1987 after 30 years as a member of the Iron Workers Local 22, Indianapolis. For the past 10 years, he had been maintenance foreman at the Indiana School for the Blind. He attended the Clermont Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Ellen Retherford McFarland, whom he married July 9, 1983; a son, Donald Duane McFarland of Mooresville; a daughter, Donna McFarland Davis of Brooklyn, a sister, Nancy C. Rogers of New Paris, Ohio; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gerald Lee and Richard W. McFarland; and one sister, Anna Mary McFarland. Service was today at Carlisle Son Funeral Chapel in Mooresville with the Rev. Ron White and the Rev. Phil Myers officiating.

O'Conner, 51, died April 10, 1998, at Memorial Hospital in Modesto, after a short illness. He was born in Richmond on Sept. 27, 1946, to Robert and Betty O'Conner. The U.S. Army veteran served in the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki; one daughter, Cyndi Shrader of Modesto, twin sons, Scott M. and Steven O'Conner O'Conner, both of Modesto, his mother; two sisters, Cheryl Patkoski and Debbie O'Conner, both of Modesto, two grandchildren; one brother, Bob O'Conner of Richmond, aunts, an uncle and nieces. Fifth died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at Heritage Regency. She was born Nov. 17, 1900, in Nashville, Ohio, to Addison and Pearl Harris Parent and had lived in West Milton, Ohio, before moving to Richmond, in 1991. The Ball State University graduate was a member of the Ball State Alumni Association and was a former school teacher for Randolph County Schools. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, West Milton, Ohio.

Survivors include three nieces, Vicki Brim of Richmond, Barbara Pence of Fountain City and Pat Foster of Tucson, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Herbert Hodgin, in 1976; a sister, Leona Arisman; and two brothers, John and Robert Parent. Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary with the Rev. Jim Miller, co-pastor of First Christian Church, officiating.
