To Mark 90th Birthday Sunday observe her ninetieth birthday anniversary Sunday, Jan. 5. Mrs. Dawdy was born at Laurel on Jan. 5, 1879, the daughter of Joseph and Susan Williams Hooper.

She is the widow of Herbert A. Dawdy. The couple had observed their sixty-fourth wedding anniversary before his death in 1962. Mrs. Dawdy makes her home with her daughter and son-inlaw, Mr.

and Mrs. Neil M. Logue, 109 South Twenty-third Richmond. She has two grandsons: A niece, Mrs. Raymond Ruger, who was reared by Mr.

and Mrs. Dawdy, lives on City Route 28, Richmond. She is a lifelong member of the Laurel United Methodist Church and a charter member of Conwell Chapter 392, Order of Eastern Star at Laurel. She is also a past deputy of the Fifth District OES. Mrs.

W. M. Ford was the officiating minister at the double-ring ceremony performed at 6:15 p.m. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Orie T. Vaughn of Russellville, Ala. The brideMrs. T. Williams, Tuskegee groom is, the son of Dr.

and Institute, Ala. Bridal music was presented by Mrs. Arthur Pillar, organist, and Miss Dianne Matthews, soloist. Mr. Vaughn escorted his daughter to the altar.

The bride wore a gown of candlelight silk peau de soie fashioned with an empire bodice, long bridal point sleeves, and controlleu A-line skirt. The Watteau train, caught at the back by a Dior bow, swept gracefully to chapel length. -trimmed peau d'ange lace in a rose pattern was appliqued over the entire bodice, forming a scalloped sculptured neckline, and extended down the front and along the edge of the train. Her bouffant veil of English silk illusion was secured to the headpiece of lace and pearls. The bride carried a bouquet of orchids and white carnations.

Miss Rhonda Vaughn of Russellvilie was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Coleen McCoy of Abbeville, Miss Shirley Lewis of Jacksonville, and Miss Ada Harris of Huntsville, Ala. The attendants wore floorlength A-line gowns of ruby velvet styled with three-quarter Edwardian sleeves with tiers of ecru lace ruffles and a jewel neckline. Self-cording circled the waist, ending with a bow tie at the back waist closing. Their matching headpieces of velvet loops were worn with short pouf veils.

White candles with poinsettia trim at the base of the candles were carried by the attendants. Theodore S. Williams Jr. of Tuskegee Institute was best man. Ushers were Lyman Jefferies of Tuskegee Institute, Orie T.

Vaughn Jr. of Russellville, 4 Area Students On Dean's List At Wittenberg Four Wittenberg University students from the Richmond area are among 242 students named to the dean's list for the autumn term of the 1968-69 academic year. They are John C. Bartel, 202 South Thirty-second Philip Pilgrim, 315 Pearl both of Richmond; Gordon Butt, 107 Orchard Cambridge City, and Richard S. Ryder, 1104 Middle Drive, Richmond.

The dean's list honors fulltime upperclass students at Wittenberg who earn academic averages of 3.6 or better (4.0 is straight and freshmen who earn at least two honors marks in the university's transitional grading program for freshmen. Most Of The Nation's Pullman Conductors To Vanish This Year CHICAGO (AP) The familiar railroad conductor with the word "Pullman" sewn just above the bill of his cap will all but vanish with the new year. All but one of the more than 30 railroads that offer Pullman car service are taking over operation of the cars from the Pullman Co. A few of the conductors will get jobs with the railroads but most will be laid off with severence pay that in some cases will reach $10,591.10. Mr. Coldiron was graduated in 1966 from Connersville High School. He is employed by Philco-Ford Connersville. A summer wedding is planned. HEW Secretary Says Medicare To Remain Same WASHINGTON (UPI) Sec- retary Wilbur.

J. Cohen of Health, Education and Welfare Tuesday announced that elderly Americans will continue paying $4 a month for Medicare health insurance through June 30, 1970, despite sharply rising medical costs. By law, Cohen set the premium rate by midnight. Tuesday for the fiscal year July 1, 1969 to June 30, 1970. Cohen's successor designate, California Lt.

Gov. Robert H. Finch, cannot change the fiscal 1970 premium, but will be free to set whatever premium he wants for fiscal 1971, Cohen said. Cohen said he would maintain the present $8 monthly premium apiece from the recipient and the federal government-despite advice to the contrary. He coupled his announcement with a plea to the nation's doctors to voluntarily restrain fee increases, warning that Conmight step in if they don't.

He said he acted against the advice of Robert J. Myes, chief actuary of the Social Security Administration, who told him that physicians' fees will rise about 5 per cent in 1969 over 1968 and per cent in 1970. Pullman porters will continue on as employes of the railroads. The only railroad not making the changeover is the Chicago, Milwaukee, St.

Paul Pacific, which is bound to keep the Pullman conductors by a long-standing labor agreement. No Pullman cars have been produced since 1956, and airlines have steadily lured away sleeping car passengers. Mrs. Wehrley presented devotions using a Christmas poem and prayer by Helen Stiener Rice. Response to roll call pertained to Christmas. Mrs. Wehrley presented the lesson, "The Holiday Season at Williamsburg, and told of the life of Thomas Jefferson and the memorial in his honor.

The meeting closed with the club collect. Punch was served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Doren. Jan. 22 is the date of the Richmond, Wednesday, Classes Resume On Jan.

7 For Parents-To-Be Classes for Expectant Parents will be resumed at the Red Cross Chapter House beginning Jan. 7. Classes are held each Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 9 o'clock. The purpose of the course is to help expectant parents gain security in a new experience by overcoming some of the anxieties related to the unknown about pregnancy, childbirth and infant care, by giving them some of the factual information that they may not already know, and to help them through group discussion to arrive at decisions that will meet their personal and the babies' needs, as well as giving them an understanding of their own expectations. Mrs.

Ada Turner, director of Nursing Programs for the chapter, urges all couples planning to enroll to attend as many of the eight sessions as possible. Mrs. Barbara Ketron, an enrolled volunteer instructor, will be assisted with the instruction by two volunteer physicians in sessions related to labor and delivery and the baby's first year. Eugene Brown, of near Hagerstown, announce the engagement of their daughter, Linda Kay, to Emery Lewis Linderman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Linderman of Dublin.
