Yet, notwithstanding all this, the Committee on Credentials decided that the Convention was to be 'composed exclusively of ddegatei elected by JAe people of the teveral townJiip in the District and we are informed that whenever a vote was about to be taken, certain "gentlemen from Franklin" would cry out in an emphatic manner that "no gentleman will vote unless he knows himself to be a Delegate 1" They knew very well, that no Delegates had been elected by the people, except in Franklin county, and consequently by this action they simply resolved themselves into a Franklin county Convention and so we treat them. The American says "The names of candidates, (including Judge Rib-by,) "subject to the decision" of this same Convention, had been prominently before the people for weeks." We don't know as to other "candidates," but wa learn from Judge Kibby, that if name was so announced anywhere, it was done without his authority or consent. But if he had so allowed his name to be used, it would not alter the case. We in this county do not recognize the right of any candidate to determine how nominations shall be made.
